Junior Creative Writers
www.
Our March Break Writing Camp is completely unique to the Niagara Region and is geared towards kids ages 9-14 who love words.
Campers tackle different types of creative writing each day. Topics include blogging, poetry, short stories, journal writing, character sketches, outlining, brainstorming, memoir, script writing and more. Our young wordsmiths will discover how to find their ‘writer’s voice’, where to get ideas and inspiration, why great writing works so well, where young writers can be published, and how to get braver about sharing your work with other people. Plus, we’ll get a chance to explore the St. Catharine’s museum for daily inspiration.
Our writer’s room is a safe space, where writers from all backgrounds, abilities, orientations, faiths, races and gender identities will feel supported and encouraged. Campers only have to share their writing when they wish to.
This full-day experience will be broken up with some physical activity and outdoor time (weather permitting), and students will have an opportunity to work one-on-one on any materials that they would like.
Camp will commence with a public reading on our final day that parents are invited to attend. Campers who are shy about reading their work may assign a reader, or have their piece printed for display.
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
The fee for this full week camp is $199. SPACE IS LIMITED!
