This is a list of family-friendly programs and organizations across Niagara that are cancelled/closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be updated as information becomes available. Please let us know of any other closures in Niagara by emailing us at [email protected].
Across Ontario:
As part of the state of emergency declared on March 17, the province will mandate the closure of restaurants and bars, though those that can offer takeout and delivery can continue selling food items. The LCBO is reducing its hours, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The province is also prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people, including at indoor recreation centres, theatres and concert venues, libraries, places of worship, private schools and licensed daycares until March 31. Ontario previously ordered all publicly funded schools to close until April 6. The order does not yet apply to public transit, shopping malls, grocery stores and pharmacies.
Across Niagara:
Public Schools: All Ontario public elementary and secondary schools will remain closed for two weeks following March Break, from March 16-April 6
All EarlyON locations across Niagara are closed until April 5.
All YMCAs in Niagara: All YMCA of Niagara programs and facilities will be closed until April 5, 2020. The closure includes all Health, Fitness, Aquatics, child care, camp and community programs across the Niagara region. Service staff are available daily from 9 am to 6 pm during the temporary closure to provide assist to members. Please call your local branch at:

All A Child's World Family Child Care Centres will be closed until April 6.
Boys and Girls Club of Niagara: All club facilities, programs and services are cancelled until April 5.
All Scouts programs are cancelled.
Girl Guides of Canada: will suspend all in-person Girl Guide activities until Tuesday, April 14, beginning immediately.
Pathstone Mental Health: Sites closed include: The Branscombe Centre, Rotary House, Merrittville, The Branscombe Early Learning Centre, Port Cares, Boys & Girls Club Fort Erie, Beamsville Medical Clinic and ALL Hear & Now Walk-In clinic locations will not be accepting clients, or any members of the public effective Monday, March 16th to Sunday April 5th.
Fort Erie
Effective March 15, 2020, until April 5, the following Town facilities will be closed to the public:
- Arenas and Community Centres (Leisureplex and Crystal Ridge)
- Fort Erie Museums (Heritage Museum, Railway Museum)
- Fort Erie Libraries (All Branches)
As a result of these closures all Town programs and third-party events at the above locations will be cancelled.
Grimsby
Effective the end of business day on March 13, through April 5, the Town of Grimsby has closed the following facilities to the public:
- Peach King Centre
- Grimsby Art Gallery
- Grimsby Public Library
- Grimsby Museum
- Livingston Activity Centre
- Southward Community Park
- Town programming at Nelles Public School (gymnastics and March Break camp).
All town programs, including March Break programming and third-party events and bookings at the above locations have been cancelled. Related fees will be refunded without penalty.
Lincoln
Town of Lincoln:
- Suspension of all programming until April 5, 2020, including:
- March break camps cancelled
- Committee of the Whole Standing Committee & Council meetings cancelled
- Citizen Advisory Committee meetings cancelled
- Recreation programs suspended – drop-in programs such as skating programs, registered classes & activities
- Museum programs & activities suspended
- Facility rentals cancelled & suspended
- Lincoln Public Library programming suspended
Niagara Falls
Until further notice, the following City facilities will be closed to the public:
- Coronation 50 Plus Recreation Centre (5925 Summer St)
- Chippawa Willoughby Arena (9000 Sodom Rd)
- Niagara Falls History Museum (5810 Ferry St)
- All March Break programming at the Niagara Falls History Museum is cancelled.
- City of Niagara Falls Customer Service desk at MacBain Community Centre (7150 Montrose Rd)
- Niagara Falls Ryerson Innovation Hub (4551 Zimmerman Ave)
- All branches of the Niagara Falls Public Library
- All March Break programming at the Niagara Falls Public Library is cancelled.
Effective Saturday, March 14, 2020 following the conclusion of the scheduled tournament:
- Gale Centre Arena (5152 Thorold Stone Rd)
Niagara Parks: All public-facing operations will be closed beginning March 14, 2020 with the tentative plan to resume operations on April 6. The closure extends to Niagara Parks attractions, restaurants, retail stores and golf courses, as well as the WEGO Green Line bus service and Falls Incline Railway. All public programming and events will also be suspended during this time.
Mom Market Niagara: March Break Madness has been postponed.
Kiddie Sports Academy: All classes cancelled until April 5.
School of Dramatic Arts: All classes cancelled until further notice.
Great Wolf Lodge: Closing from March 15 to April 2
Oh Canada Eh: Theatre is closed and all performances cancelled until April 11th.
Niagara-on-the-Lake
Niagara College: Niagara College announced that it has suspended all on-campus classes starting on Monday
The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has made the decision to close the following facilities effective March 13, reopening April 6:
- Meridian Credit Union and Centennial Arenas
- Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library
- Queenston library
- NOTL Community Centre
Programming scheduled to run within these facilities, including March Break Camp, Niagara Nursery Services, library programming, public skates and hockey games and tournaments will be suspended.
Yellow Door Theatre Program: All classes cancelled until March 30th.
Pelham
Pelham Public Library: Closed until April 6.
Town of Pelham: All Town facilities will be closed to walk-in public access effective immediately Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until further notice.
Agape Valley Sugar Bush: Closed
Port Colborne
City facilities will be closed to the public at the end of operating day today, March 13, (which is different for each facility) until April 5, 2020:
- The Vale Health & Wellness Centre, which includes the Port Colborne YMCA
- The Roselawn Centre
- The Port Colborne Public Library
- The Port Colborne Farmer’s Market
Due to these closures, all programs, including March Break programming, will be cancelled.
Showboat Festival Theatre has decided to cancel next week’s March Break performances of Peter Pan.
Due to the closure of publicly-funded schools in Ontario, the District School Board of Niagara has provided notice that child care centres in schools will also be closed. As of Monday, March 16, families using child care at the Port Colborne Child Care Centre must secure alternate child care arrangements while the schools are closed.
St. Catharines
Ridley College: Ridley will be closed from March 14 to April 5.
Brock University: In-person classes, labs, seminars and exams, as well as all online courses, will be suspended as of 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13.
City facilities will be closed to the public:
- All Older Adult Centres including Dunlop Drive, West St. Catharines, and Port Dalhousie
- All recreation centres including Russell Avenue and Port Weller
- All arenas including Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, Garden City Complex and Bill Burgoyne
- All branches of the St. Catharines Public Library
- The St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
- The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
- Sports fields including Kiwanis Field
- The St. Catharines Farmers Market and Market Square
- The Meridian Centre
- The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre
- All March Break activities are cancelled.
Carousel Players' Tour & Media Day for Lig & Bittle until further notice.
Pen Centre: All March Break events and Easter events have been cancelled.
Gymnastics Energy: All classes cancelled until April 5.
Chapters: All March Break Events are cancelled.
Lost 'n Found Yoga: Both locations are closed until further notice.
Thorold
City facilities will be closed to public access until Monday, April 6, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. (with option to extend, if necessary):
- Thorold Community Arenas
- Thorold Public Library
- Ontario Paper Thorold Seniors Centre
- Lock 7 Viewing Centre, including the Museum
- Darlene Ryan Port Robinson Community Centre
- Allanburg Community Centre
Thorold Community Activities Group: Closed until at least April 6.
The Early Childhood Community Development Centre has cancelled all workshops until April 4th. While we can not offer in person support at this time, we are pleased to offer online purchasing at www.eccdc.org/shop. Wainfleet
Wainfleet Public Library and the Wainfleet Arena (and Senior’s Centre) are closed until April 5, 2020. The Wainfleet Firefighters Memorial Community Hall will also be closed until April 5.
Welland
Seaway Mall: All March Break activities have been cancelled.
Niagara College: Niagara College announced that it has suspended all on-campus classes starting on Monday
The following facilities and services will be closed until April 5, 2020:
- The Jack Ballantyne Memorial Youth Arena & Main Arena
- The Welland Community Wellness Complex
- The Welland Public Library (all three branches)
- The Welland Museum
- The Welland International Flatwater Centre
- Welland Market Square (including Welland Farmers’ Markets)
- Youngs Sportsplex
- Youth Innovations
The following city hosted events are cancelled:
- Luck of the Irish, March 14, at the Welland Farmers’ Market
- All March Break Skates, March 16 to 19, at the Welland Arenas
- March Break Special Events, March 19 to 21, at the Welland Community Wellness Complex,Civic Square and the Welland Public Library
- All Welland Farmers’ Markets, March 14, 21, 28, & April 4, at Market Square
- Recreation and Wellness Expo Welland, March 28, at Welland Community Wellness Complex
All Rose City Kids programs closed till April 18.
West Lincoln
Effective at 8 a.m. on March 14, until and including April 5, the following facilities will be closed to the public.
- West Lincoln Community Centre
- Smithville Public Library
- Caistorville Public Library
- Caistor Community Centre (Abingdon Hall)
- Silverdale Hall
- Wellandport Hall; and
- Wellandport Public Library
