Creative Classes for Local Kids

The sweet smell of spring is in the air and creative classes for Niagara kids are popping up all over!

The Redekopp Creative and Performing Arts Centre is quickly growing into an arts hub in Virgil, thanks to Yellow Door Theatre Project. Artistic Director Andorlie Hillstrom and her team have given the unique space on Line Two Road a fresh new look, and Yellow Door has teamed up with artists in the local community to offer classes in movement, music, drama, creative writing and dance for kids from toddler to teen. Here’s a brief look at some of the classes on offer beginning in early April, but their website (www.yellowdoortheatre.com) is updated regularly and we hear that there are visual arts classes coming soon.

Andorlie and the team at the Redekopp Creative and Performing Arts Centre are always on the lookout for new opportunities, particularly for young people. If you are interested in renting a unique studio space, or have classes you would like to teach, you can email Andorlie at andorlie@yellowdoortheatre.com.

Junior Creative Writers is a new Niagara-based collective for budding writers ages 10 and up. To give young writers the opportunities they crave, JCW has classes and workshops on offer for kids who love words. Each class is a safe space where writers examine technique and elements of great writing through fun exercises and weekly challenges, with the focus on exploration and imagination. Participants share at their own pace, and receive constructive feedback only when requested.
