The May long weekend always seems like the unofficial start to summer with all the attractions opening and events happening. There are several Victoria Day Celebrations in Niagara this year. Here are Niagara Families’ top selections for long weekend fun in the Niagara Region.

 

Virgil Stampede

The Virgil Stampede returns this year on Saturday, May 19th. The Stampede includes many fun-filled activities including amusement rides, pony rides, refreshment stands, silent auctions, and a demolition derby. Don’t miss the fireworks at 9:30 pm on Monday. Fireworks at Heartland Forest

Saturday, May 19th 7pm – dusk. $15 per carload, bring your own lawn chairs and blankets

Heartland Forest offers a fantastic fireworks display. There are also lots of other activities for the kids like Tootsie Express train rides, mini putt and more.

 


Fireworks at the Falls

The fireworks displays are back at Niagara Falls, with regular displays every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night until the end of June and then every night until the end of September. For full schedule details, check out the Niagara Parks website.

Enjoy the Victoria Day fireworks display on May 21st at 10pm, weather permitting.

 


Victoria Day Celebrations at the Welland Sports Complex

Celebrate Victoria Day at the Welland Sports Complex with some fun and fireworks. Enjoy face painting, 9-hole Mini-Putt Golf Course, Pirate Ship Inflatable, Marshall the Firedog Bouncer and more. Fireworks at 9:30pm  over the canal. This is a free event.

Lakeside Park Carousel Opening 

The opening of the Lakeside Park Carousel will be on Saturday, May 19.

Carousel Hours:
May 19 – June 3, 2018: open on weekends and holidays from 11 am – 8 pm.
June 9 – August 31, 2018: open daily from 11 am – 8 pm.
September 1 – October 8, 2018: open on weekends and holidays from 11 am – 6 pm.
Please note the hours of operation are subject to change.

Animals arrive at Happy Rolph’s

The animals will be at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm starting Victoria Day weekend. Enjoy the animals as well as picnic areas, a nature trail along the water, and a large playground.

Safari Niagara’s 16th Birthday

Visit Safari Niagara on May 19, 2018 to receive discounted admission. The price for all visitors will be $16.00 per person to celebrate 16 years in business.

Victoria Day Picnic at the Farm

On Victoria Day Long Weekend #OstrichLand Farm opens its doors to the public for the summer season! Come spend a day (May 20) at the farm with your whole family with great food, music, fun games and activities to keep you and your kids busy for the whole day.

Discover the unique countryside activities like campfire and farm excursions, feed the farm animals (including ostriches, alpacas, goats and many more!), have a ride on our cute pony and try catching a rabbit with your bare hands!
