The May long weekend always seems like the unofficial start to summer with all the attractions opening and events happening. There are several Victoria Day Celebrations in Niagara this year. Here are Niagara Families’ top selections for long weekend fun in the Niagara Region.
The Virgil Stampede returns this year on Saturday, May 18th. The Stampede includes many fun-filled activities including amusement rides, pony rides, refreshment stands, silent auctions, and a demolition derby. Don’t miss the fireworks at 9:30 pm on Monday. Check here for the schedule of activities!

Fireworks at Heartland Forest
Sun, May 19, 2019 from 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm
$15 per carload, bring your own lawn chairs and blankets
Heartland Forest offers a fantastic fireworks display. There are also lots of other activities for the kids like mini putt, playground, campfire and more.
Fireworks at the Falls
The fireworks displays are back at Niagara Falls, with regular displays every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night until the end of June and then every night until the end of September. For full schedule details, check out the Niagara Parks website.

Victoria Day Celebrations at the Welland Sports Complex
Sunday, May 19, 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Location: Welland Community Wellness Complex
Enjoy face painting, 9-hole Mini-Putt Golf Course, Pirate Ship Inflatable, Monster’s Inc Inflatable and more. Fireworks at 9:30pm over the canal.
Canal Bistro will be open serving hotdogs and other treats!

Lakeside Park Carousel Opening
Location: Lakeside Park, 1 Lakeport Road, St. Catharines
The opening of the Lakeside Park Carousel will be on Saturday, May 18.
May 18 – June 9, 2019: open weekends and holidays only from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
June 15 – September 2, 2019: open daily from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
September 7 – October 14, 2019: open weekends and holidays only from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Animals arrive at Happy Rolph’s
Location: 650 Read Rd. (corner of Read Rd. and Northrup Cres.), St. Catharines
The animals will be at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm starting Victoria Day weekend. Enjoy the animals as well as picnic areas, a nature trail along the water, and a large playground. Open from 10am-8pm.
